Last night Karl
Lagerfeld host a bevy of celebrities, models, supermodels, musicians and socialites for the Chanel dinner hosted at
Nobu Berkeley. The
night was a kick off to the show commencing
tonight at the new Phillips
de Pury building in
Knightsbridge. The show is aptly named Paris-
Londres and is part
of the maison d'art collection held each year. This marks the very first Chanel show hosted in London. In previous years the shows have taken place in Monte Carlo, Tokyo, New York and Paris. Although this marks the first
time in London Chanel's styling and aesthetic has much to do with British culture and style. Coco Chanel had a tumultuous affair with the Duke of Westminster, which prompted him to brand the city of London with her trademark
cc's. Chanel was said to take much of her inspiration from
the Duke as well as London traditions so much so that her trademark blazers were said to have been inspired by London army jackets at the time.
